1990 Lotus Excel SE

I bought my 1990 Lotus Excel SE from an "alleged" specialist in Feburary 2005. Since then, I seem to have been dealing with faults on the car every week. Most are minor niggles that can be dealt with quite easily, but some are quite major and should have been caught before the car was sold to me. There are times when I've threatened it with a trip to e-bay, but in spite of all the hassle, it's the best handling road car I've ever driven and copes well with long journeys (the longest being Calais - Monaco in about 12 hours almost non-stop.

1989 marked the last major revision to the Excel before production ended in 1992. Major changes were the OZ alloy wheels, modelled after those fitted to the Esprit, Citroen CX door mirrors (as used on all the best supercars of the 1990s), revised spoilers and different engine mounts.

This site will build, slowly, giving more information about the car and some of the modifications made to it to deal with some of the inherent faults.
